Delegation from AVL List Saudi Arabia LLC Visits CEREM Research Laboratories ( 15 February, 2026)
The Center of Excellence for Research in Engineering Materials (CEREM), King Saud University, welcomed a delegation from AVL List Saudi Arabia LLC for a technical visit to its research facilities. The delegation was led by Mr. Cristian, operational manager, who engaged with members of the CEREM research team to gain insight into the Center's scientific infrastructure and ongoing research activities.
The visit offered an in-depth look at CEREM’s multidisciplinary laboratories and advanced technological capabilities.

The delegation took a tour of the Materials Characterization Laboratory, which employs advanced analytical techniques to explore the structural, morphological, and functional properties of engineered materials. The integrated approach combining materials development with performance analysis was highlighted.

At the Sustainability Laboratory, research initiatives focused on sustainable materials development, waste-to-value conversion, and environmentally responsible engineering solutions were introduced. These activities align with national sustainability priorities and circular-economy principles.

In the Energy Storage Laboratory, researchers presented ongoing work in advanced battery materials, electrochemical testing, and next-generation energy storage systems. The discussion emphasized materials synthesis, electrode fabrication, and systematic electrochemical performance evaluation.

The delegation also visited the Corrosion Laboratory, where researchers demonstrated advanced corrosion testing methodologies, electrochemical corrosion analysis, and materials durability assessment under simulated environmental conditions. These capabilities are critical for industrial reliability and infrastructure sustainability.

The delegation also visited the Coating Laboratory, where advanced surface engineering techniques and protective coating technologies are developed for corrosion resistance, durability enhancement, and industrial performance optimization.

In the Materials and Metallurgy Laboratory, discussions centered on metallurgical analysis, mechanical performance evaluation, and failure analysis of metallic systems. The laboratory demonstrated its capabilities in microstructural characterization and applied materials testing.
Dr. Ibrahim Alnaser, Director of CEREM, emphasized the importance of industry-academia collaboration in advancing applied research and innovation, reaffirming CEREM’s commitment to supporting sustainable industrial development in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030.
The visit concluded with constructive technical discussions between Mr. Cristian and CEREM researchers regarding potential areas of industry–academia collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Such engagements reinforce CEREM’s commitment to fostering strategic industrial partnerships and advancing innovation-driven research in alignment with the objectives of King Saud University and national industrial development initiatives.
