CEREM Advances Collaboration in Materials & Water Research (21 April, 2026 )

The Center of Excellence for Research in Engineering Materials at King Saud University welcomed a delegation from the Saudi Water Authority - Water Technologies & Innovation Institute for Research Advancement (WTIIRA) on 21 April 2026 at its premises in Riyadh.

CEREM Explores Strategic Collaboration with SWA–WTIIRA in Advanced Materials and Water Technologies

The visit was hosted by Dr. Ibrahim Alnaser, Director of CEREM, who welcomed the delegation and highlighted CEREM’s advanced research capabilities and state-of-the-art facilities supporting national priorities in materials science and sustainable technologies.

The SWA-WTIIRA delegation was given a comprehensive tour of CEREM laboratories, followed by a technical meeting with the research team to explore potential collaboration avenues in advanced materials and water technologies.

Key discussion areas included corrosion protection for water infrastructure, advanced coatings and surface engineering, membrane technologies for desalination and water treatment, and the performance of materials in harsh environments. Opportunities for joint research initiatives, specialized testing services, and training programs were also discussed.

The meeting concluded with strong mutual interest in future collaboration and continued engagement between both parties. A follow-up meeting will be arranged to define specific areas of cooperation further.

This engagement reflects CEREM’s commitment to strengthening industry–academia partnerships and advancing innovative, sustainable solutions aligned with the Kingdom’s water and energy priorities.
